Amidst the pandemic situation today, companies need to ensure that it is safe to welcome their employees back to office premises as soon as possible. However, it’s easier said than done. Implementing the testing, screening, and contact tracing is a challenge requiring changes in thinking and processes in the workplace. That’s where Kastle Systems can help. One of the largest managed security services provider to commercial businesses, the company has developed an innovative solution, KastleSafeSpaces, that employs touchless physical access control to integrate with virus-screening and contact tracing processes to enable administrators to confidently roll out a safe return to the office. “At Kastle, we’ve spent years researching and developing technology to keep offices as safe and secure as possible. For months now, we have been thinking through what it would take to make employees feel comfortable when their offices reopen,” mentions Haniel J Lynn, the CEO at Kastle Systems.

KastleSafeSpaces configures Kastle Access Control systems to integrate with the various mainstream coronavirus testing methods, so that daily test results are implemented instantly into physical access rights at the credential level for the individuals. KastleSafeSpaces focuses on integrating existing technology with new processes to immediately accelerate solutions to address major shifts in workplace operations that requires employee screening for diseases. These combined pillars of safety and security—much of which are available in current building security systems but not fully activated—includes the touch-less controls and an integrated app on smartphones, KastlePresence®. Offered as a hands-free mobile access control app, KastlePresence® is now more relevant than ever. It leverages the existing system with new technologies and enables wireless, hands-free access to doors, turnstiles, elevators, visitor kiosks, and parking ticket vending machines.

KastleSafeSpaces provides Screen In/Screen Out capabilities, which facilitates daily screenings of employees and vendors. It fully integrates the occupant identity roster with the security access control system to lock out people presenting with symptoms or known to be infected. Further, it also facilitates tracking individuals who later learn they were infected with COVID-19 as well as those who have come in contact with them. To optimize KastleSafeSpaces, offices should have their access system 24/7 and require both entry and exit readers. This captures a daily data record of all occupants’ presence on-premise and makes running audit reports for potential contacts with an infected individual an easy, efficient process. KastleSafeSpaces uses data and technology-driven reminders to monitor and manage real-time space occupancy, supplementing physical guides to reinforce social distancing. Real-time data reporting can provide notifications for issues such as exceeding floor-level occupancy and suggest the need for greater social distancing if the number of people is too high.

At Kastle, we’ve spent years researching and developing technology designed to keep offices as safe and secure as possible

Recently, Monday Properties, a leading national real estate investment and development company, and Kastle Systems partnered to implement KastleSafeSpaces. Monday Properties will be implementing this technology in the D.C. metro area at their world-class office tower, 1812 North Moore Street in Arlington, Virginia, home of Nestle’s U.S. Headquarters. The comprehensive system enables office buildings to play a significant role in virus screening by activating touchless access points, promoting social distancing practices, and through contact tracing. “At Monday Properties, our tenants’ health and safety remain our number one priority, and during this challenging time, we’re working to find practical and efficient solutions,” says Jennifer Burns, Senior Vice President of Property Management and Operations Monday Properties. “As the first commercial real estate landlord to fully implement this technology in one location in the D.C. metro area, we’re proud to be a leader in the space and partner with Kastle Systems. KastleSafeSpaces is providing a way for us to leverage the existing infrastructure we already have in our building while incorporating upgrades that will better safeguard our tenants’ health and safety as they return to the office.”

At its core, Kastle Systems operates as a Managed Security provider, running the entire security operation for its clients’ businesses on a long-term basis. The company’s approach is to provide a long-term security solution and not just the system. To this end, Kastle Systems offers on-going security, which, in addition to the excellent hardware/software from the best manufacturers, also includes management expertise to design, install, monitor, and maintain the systems forever, effectively becoming a long-term partner that is always available. The company has harnessed technology to evolve this approach to the “next generation” where the access control system is moved off-premise to the cloud, which provides greater security from cyber hacking than the standard access server sitting on-site.

What differentiates Kastle Systems is the innovation that they bring through its technology. “In many ways, we view ourselves as a technology company rather than solely a security company. Widening that frame of reference keeps us open and aware of advancements in a broader world of ideas, industries, and human behavior, which continuously provides the impetus for creativity we can bring to security and smart building systems,” says Lynn. This perspective enables Kastle Systems to create experiences that are truly unique in the marketplace, like hands-free Bluetooth access credentials or an elegantly simple visitor management system, because they think about the technology of security and the convenience of the user experience. To this end, Kastle Systems seeks to grow by leveraging our open-standards interoperability to serve more enterprise businesses with multi-location operations and partner with smart property management platforms.
